Overview:
Two Rivers Water Company is in the business of acquiring, developing and distributing water in the State of Colorado. The Company has options, including real estate contracts to purchase a 97% interest in the Huerfano Cucharas Irrigation Company,LLC (HCIC). HCIC is located in Huerfano County, Colorado and owns some of the most senior “direct flow” and “storage” water rights on the Huerfano and Cucharas River Basins.
Water Rights:
Under Colorado water law, the right to utilize Colorado water is based on the priority of a party’s appropriation of a specified amount of water, at a specified location, for specified uses (a “water right”). The value of a water right is its place in the priority system. Colorado’s “first in time, first in right” or “prior appropriation” doctrine applies to both surface water and groundwater HCIC has high priority water rights in Colorado.
